Feelings & emotions self-regulation chart
Feelings & emotions self-regulation chart
⭐️Self-regulation is an important skill to develop in order to aid with communicating feelings and managing emotions and behaviour.
Talk about the feelings and emotions under each colour when your child is feeling calm and in a positive mindset to discuss what they mean, and strategies that they could follow to help them to self-regulate if they experience negative emotions.
At various points throughout the day take time to discuss how your child is feeling, allowing them to add the counter to indicate which colour zone they are in.
If your child becomes frustrated or emotionally heightened and doesn’t feel able to discuss their thoughts and feelings, allow them to place their counter in the colour zone for their emotion to provide a way of communicating how they feel without the need for verbal clarification - this will allow you to support them with drawing on the strategies to self-regulate and encourage them to be able to address these with increasing independence over time. ⭐️
